Junk Journaling

Junk journaling is the art of transforming the ordinary and even what is considered to be "junk," into the extraordinary.

At it's heart, it's a practice of gathering scraps, papers, textures, fragments and things that are often overlooked or cast aside (sometimes called ephemera), and weaving them into a living book of memory, imagination, and expression.

Each page becomes a portal, combining collage, writing, art, found objects, and memorabilia to tell a story that is uniquely your own.

The process is both grounding and enchanting. Page by page and layer by layer, the journal grows into a tactile tapestry that feels alive with your own imagination and inspirations.

For some junk journaling is a meditative practice. It can be a way to slow down and listen to whispers of creativity as well as a way to be present with you senses.

For others, it becomes a keepsake of personal growth, dreams, or daily reflections. You can even make unique themed ones for an amazing personal gift.

You can make a simple one in a day or make elaborate ones over several weeks. There is no right or wrong way to make one. Trust me, you'll never look at another piece of scrap paper or "trash" the same way again!

More than just a craft, junk journaling is a form of creative alchemy that turns "junk" into jewels of self expression. It's a reminder that beauty hides in the overlooked, and that the act of creating can be just as meaningful as the finished piece itself.

You can attend a junk journal class or book a one-on-one session with me to learn the basic skills of creating your very own junk journal. This can be as simple or elaborate as you prefer.

Group class prices will be listed on any scheduled junk journaling classes (which will usually range from $25 to $50 depending on how elaborate the journal is going to be).

You can also schedule a one-on-one class with me at $44 per hour and this would include all basic supplies.
